In dit interview spraken we met Elliott Smith na het uitkomen van zijn album "Figure 8" in 2000. We vroegen hem waarom hij grimmige songteksten combineert met vrolijke muziek:

"It comes naturally. The more different emotions, preferably conflicting ones in a song the better. Often times I think that's sort of what people are like."
